Start with the reuse you want

Decide whether commercial use should be allowed, whether people may share adaptations, and whether shared adaptations should remain under reciprocal terms. The answers point toward one of the six CC licenses or CC0.

Confirm that you control the rights

Do not license third-party material merely because it appears in your project. Identify employees, contractors, collaborators, stock assets, fonts, music, and other inputs before marking the work.

Apply the license clearly

Name the exact license and version, link to its deed or legal code, state what material it covers, and supply useful attribution information. Remember that existing license grants generally cannot be revoked for copies already distributed.
